    What is Gynecomastia?

Gynecomastia is male breast development. It occurs when the breast tissue becomes enlarged. This condition can affect one or both breasts. Any man can develop Gynecomastia, but older men and boys who are going through puberty are at the greatest risk for developing this condition. Men who use anabolic steroids are also at an increased risk for developing this condition. Furthermore, certain health conditions can put a person at risk for developing Gynecomastia.

    Symptoms
Breast tenderness and swollen gland tissue are two of the main symptoms of this condition. Some men may develop nipple discharge and pain in their breasts.

    Are There Any Complications?
Gynecomastia can have a negative impact on a person’s body image. This can lead to emotional and psychological problems.

    Treatment
In many cases, Gynecomastia will go away without any treatment. If a man’s condition does not go away on its own, then he has the option of taking medication or getting Gynecomastia surgery. Raloxifene and Tamoxifen are two of the medications that are frequently prescribed to patients who have Gynecomastia.

Patients who do not respond to medication will most likely need to get surgery. There are two types of surgery that can be used to treat Gynecomastia. One of those surgical procedures is liposuction. Liposuction removes the fat, but it does not remove the breast gland tissue. A mastectomy is another type of surgical procedure that can be performed. This procedure removes the breast gland tissue.

A mastectomy is less invasive than liposuction. The surgeon is only required to make a few small incisions. T

    Prevention
Gynecomastia cannot always be prevented, but there are thing that you can do that will reduce your risk of developing it. You should avoid the use of anabolic steroids and illegal drugs. If you drink alcohol, then you want to make sure that you do it in moderation. Gynecomastia is sometimes a side effect of medications, so you should review the medications that you take with your doctor.
