Sorry I'm bothering you I just want to ask a question. I don't know much because I just finished nurse high school but I'm going to medicine university next year. So here is mu problem. 3 years ago my grandmother had a hip replacement surgery, but the prosthetic implant has moved and now she has much pain. I would like to know if it is better to remove it or let it there and take pain killers because the doctors let the decision to us.
She had an myocardial infarction about 10 years ago, she had a Carcinoma mammae removed about 7 years ago and she also had two cerebral infarction's.
She is 76 years old. The doctors didn't tell anything about thrombosis and embolism but I've read that the risk is high.
So if you could tell me the risks and pros and cons of an removal of the prosthetic implant I would be very thankful.
Also here is a X-ray image of the hip.

Just a opinion from a med student, I'd go with painkillers. Being at her age and complications, putting her trough surgery woudl be very risky. Just a simple opinion.

Thank you I appreciate your answers I think this will be a tough decision to make, I'm also for the painkillers opinion but she has a new symptom now the implant can be touched like a ball on the skin and on that place the skin is red. They say the skin can be damaged.
I really don't know why such a decision is let to us but thats it :\
They could at least tell us what they would prefer, that is why I asked for other options. Thank you very much.
