main causes of diarrhoea:
*Infectious:bacterial, viral, parasitic
*Noninfectious:diabetic diarrhoea, drug induced and parenteral diarrhoea
classification
*Acute diarrhoea:
-gastroenteritis : bacterial, viral, parasitic
-Noninfectious :diabetic diarrhoea, drug induced diarrhoea, parenteral diarrhoea
*Chronic diarrhoea:
-Chronic infections
-postenteritis malabsorption :sugar intolerance, milk allergy
-other causes of malabsorption :hepatic (biliary atresia), pancreatic (cystic fibrosis), intestinal (several causes )
*treatment + advice you would
give to the parents :
-home management of mild diarrhoea
-hospital management of complicated cases

 

We always give ORT and zinc for 14 days for treatment of diarrhoea
