    Hint: the lesion is very classically located and the surgeons in the pic have done a good job in neatly exposing it. But shud they have exposed it or dealt with the primary problem first ( may be they hav ) is definitely debatable.

    Ans: Popliteal Cyst aka Baker's cyst

    concomitantly treating the primary pathology in the knee joint is very important as the popliteal cyst is indicative / symptomatic of a more sinister problem within the knee joint.
