dr.angela IS correct,,, this is cutaneous anthrax caused by the bacterium Bacillus Anthracis, and this photo show a MALIGNANT PUSTULE , which is an ulcer surrounded by Edema , and has a black necrotic center. These sign are due to the toxins produced by B. Anthracis (Oedema Factor, Lethal Toxin, Binding Toxin ) . In this case the skin is affected but we can also have pulmonary anthrax, and gastrointestinal anthrax. All of which can lead to Septicemic Anthrax if the toxins go to the circulation (which is almost always FATAL)
