It takes around 27% more students than the average med school, but as you can see, average grades are extremely high. UCSF School of Medicine Average undergraduate GPA: 3.85 Median MCAT score: 36 The University of California San Francisco offers relatively affordable tuition fees for in-state applicants (approximately $32,365). In addition to its main MD program, you can also study for an MD/PhD or an MD/MPH dual degree. Johns Hopkins School of Medicine Average undergraduate GPA: 3.91 Median MCAT score: 36 Johns Hopkins has a low acceptance rate – only 1.8% of students who apply get to complete their program here. It’s no surprise that the school’s matriculants are the best of the best, with consistently high MCAT scores and undergraduate GPAs. Perelman School of Medicine Average undergraduate GPA: 3.88 Median MCAT score: 38 Founded in 1765, Perelman School of Medicine offers a range of medical programs including the MD, MD/PhD, MD/MBA and other dual degrees. While average MCAT scores are high, Perelman is also a fairly large school, having welcomed 168 new medical students this year. UW School of Medicine Average undergraduate GPA: 3.73 Median MCAT score: 31 UW School of Medicine is a huge school, with a whopping 918 students currently enrolled. Its out-of-state tuition fees are fairly high at $59,175, but typical MCAT and GPA scores are lower than some other med schools. If you can afford the extra fees, it may be a good choice for you. David Geffen School of Medicine Average undergraduate GPA: 3.78 Median MCAT score: 35 Founded fairly recently in 1950, David Geffen School of Medicine is a large institution with 631 students currently enrolled on their various MD and dual degree programs. Having said that, only 1.8% of applicants to the school are successful. Michigan Medical School Average undergraduate GPA: 3.84 Median MCAT score: 36 Michigan Medical School offers relatively affordable tuition fees for both in-state and out-of-state applicants, most of whom have a GPA between 3.58 and 3.99. You can also complete a degree in dentistry or pharmacy at this institution. UNC School of Medicine Average undergraduate GPA: 3.79 Median MCAT score: 33 UNC School of Medicine is a large institution, with 711 students currently enrolled (180 of which are in their first year). You can also study dentistry and pharmacy at UNC Chapel Hill. Pittsburgh School of Medicine Average undergraduate GPA: 3.86 Median MCAT score: 36 Founded in 1886, Pittsburgh School of Medicine has 603 students currently enrolled on their medical programs. Their out-of-state and in-state tuition fees are very similar (between $46,000 and $49,000), and you can study dentistry and pharmacy here, too.
