Ans : Forearm fasciotomy done for compartment syndrome.

If the etiology was snake bite or some other form of envenomation, then blood coagulability should be restored ( by giving antivenom, FFP, platelet concentrate or fresh whole blood ), b4 fasciotomy is performed.

    - this acc to, Pye's surgical Handicraft, 22nd ed, chp 28 - treatment of snake bite, pg 426.

    *****************************************

Failure to perform an adequate fasciotomy after revascularization of an acutely ischemic limb is the most common cause of preventable limb loss.

    ref - Sabiston, 19th ed, chp 64, pg 1792

dis zig-zag incision is better, than a straight cut-down. It exposes more surface area with one incision....allowing for rapid resolution of edema and there is the added advantage of closing the wound with lesser tension (Y)

i wanted to mention this in my first post....but i thought i wud bore people, but since u asked.....(-:
